Acciona Ferrovial Joint Venture (AFJV) was awarded the contract to design and construct the Sydney Metro West – Central Tunnelling Package, including twin 11-kilometre tunnels and excavation of five station boxes.
As a key subcontractor, Ausforce supplied high-quality reinforced steel (reo) cages, crucial for tunnel linings, access shafts, and the TBM launch and retrieval sites. Our precision manufacturing and timely delivery supported the production of over 70,000 concrete segments, reinforcing structural elements across the project. Ausforce played a vital role in ensuring the seamless execution of one of Sydney’s largest infrastructure developments.
Sydney Metro West - Central Tunneling Package
The Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package is a key part of the Sydney Metro West project, featuring nine kilometers of twin metro tunnels from Westmead to Sydney Olympic Park, along with excavation for two new stations, a stabling and maintenance facility at Clyde, and a precast facility at Eastern Creek. Awarded to Gamuda Berhad, a leading infrastructure company, this package showcases Gamuda’s tunneling expertise and marks a significant milestone in its Australian operations.
As a trusted subcontractor, Ausforce played a critical role in this project, supplying approximately 4,500 reinforced steel (reo) cages to Gamuda. These high-quality cages were essential for structural reinforcement across various tunneling and station works. Through precision manufacturing and timely delivery, Ausforce contributed to the smooth execution of one of Sydney’s largest infrastructure projects, reinforcing its reputation as a leading provider of steel fabrication solutions.
Sydney Metro West - West Tunneling Package
Western Harbour Tunnel Stage 2
Western Harbour Tunnel will see a new motorway built underneath Sydney Harbour to connect North Sydney to Rozelle, bypassing the CBD. Stage 2 includes connections from Stage 1 at Cove Street, Birchgrove, to the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney, tunnelling under Sydney Harbour and the complete tunnel fit-out.
Ausforce is proud to be a key subcontractor for Acciona on the Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, supplying high-quality reinforced steel (reo) cages for critical structural elements. This stage of the project involves tunneling under Sydney Harbour, connecting Stage 1 at Cove Street, Birchgrove, to the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney, and completing the full tunnel fit-out.
